Riding the Last Wave of Summer: Palm Springs Surf Club

ree

The light is shifting. Summer’s signature shimmer begins to soften and early autumn whispers its arrival. And yet somewhere in the desert a pulse of warmth still calls you to move, breathe, ride waves. This month we draw your attention to a place that lets you hold onto summer’s glow just a little longer.

Welcome to Palm Springs Surf Club. A place where every surf session feels like permission to linger in the sun. Where surf instructors guide you through your first pop‑up and experts carve through barreling waves. Where lounging, dining and twilight gatherings are part of the ritual of late summer.

What to Expect

Located on a 21-acre property in Palm Springs, this former waterpark has been transformed into a design-forward surf and leisure sanctuary. At the heart of it all is a state-of-the-art wave pool with customizable settings, offering a surfable canvas for all skill levels. You can sign up for group lessons, book a one-on-one instructor, or just observe the beauty of motion from a shaded lounger.

Beyond the wave, the club offers waterslides, a lazy river, poolside daybeds, and sculpted sun decks that feel more Riviera than resort. The mood is refined but relaxed, and every corner has been designed to feel intentional.

The on-site restaurant delivers a vibrant menu of coastal California cuisine—fresh seafood, seasonal produce, and poolside favorites reimagined with a touch of elegance. You’ll also find a casual bar and café for light bites and drinks throughout the day.

Class Options and Surf Sessions

Whether you’re brand new or just looking to refine your form, there’s a session or lesson for you.

Beginner Lessons

Soft-top boards and smaller wave settings are offered during the Waikiki Wave sessions—perfect for those getting their bearings.

One-on-One Coaching

Individual sessions provide customized instruction focused on everything from balance and paddling to wave timing and technique.

Group Sessions

You can also reserve private group surf time, ideal for birthdays, reunions, or just gathering your friends for something different. These sessions give full access to the wave pool with the option to select your wave style.

Intermediate and Advanced Waves

The club also features wave types like Rights, Lefts, A-Frames, and the Slab—each offering different levels of difficulty and ride shape. Whether you’re working on speed or looking to carve into a barrel, there’s something designed for your ride.

Now is arguably the most beautiful time to visit. The desert heat is more forgiving, the sky becomes a richer blue, and the evenings carry that quiet kind of magic. Day passes are available without the need for a membership, and the energy shifts throughout the day—from lively mid-morning surf sessions to dusk-lit dinners and music-laced gatherings.

Evening programming includes special swim nights and sunset sessions. And if you’re planning an event or celebration, the Surf Club’s expansive layout includes venues for everything from private dinners to weddings and large-scale events.
