Can you get a pool to yourselves at a Palm Springs hotel?

Yes, if you book the whole hotel. No suite at The Muse has its own pool or its own hot tub, and we'd rather tell you that now than have you find out at check-in. What we do have is one courtyard pool for nine suites, which feels nothing like a pool deck shared with a few hundred strangers.

Book all nine suites and nobody else checks in. The pool, the hot tub, the outdoor fireplace, the pergola swings and the BBQ grill belong to your group for the whole stay. What is the pool like at The Muse?

Small, pretty and very easy to spend a whole day at. The pool sits in a courtyard framed by coral walls and tall palms, with white loungers, scalloped umbrellas and a lawn for the people who prefer a towel to a chair. The six-person hot tub is right there, and the pergola swings are where the group chat gets settled.

Breakfast is easy too. Grab-and-go breakfast from Aspen Mills is included, so the first coffee of the day can happen poolside. Parking and Wi-Fi are included as well, and downtown Palm Springs is minutes away by car when you finally want dinner.

Which Palm Springs hotels are best for pool parties?

Palm Springs has a famous pool party scene, and most of it happens at big properties with DJs and wristbands. The Muse isn't a day club. On a buyout, the party is yours, and the guest list is only people you actually invited.

• Music: welcome at reasonable volumes until 10PM.

• Drinks: buyout groups can add our bartender package, three hours with ice, drinkware and up to three cocktail selections. Alcohol is purchased separately.

Then the pool is a short walk from your door and nobody is doing cannonballs. When is pool season in Palm Springs?

October through May is the classic season, with warm days and cool nights. Summer afternoons often top 100 degrees, which turns the pool into the only reasonable place to be and makes early mornings and evenings the best swim times.
