Which suites at The Muse have a kitchen?

Here's the short version, suite by suite:

• Brigitte, Audrey, Marilyn and Taylor. King bed, full kitchen and a private fenced yard. These are the ones to book if you plan to actually cook.

• Edie. A mini-fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Perfect for coffee, cold drinks and last night's leftovers.

• The Duo Suite. Edie and Bowie booked together, with two bedrooms that sleep up to five with an optional rollaway. Bowie is our largest suite, with a separate bedroom.

What's the difference between a kitchenette and a full kitchen?

It depends on the hotel, which is why "kitchenette" is one of the most stretched words in travel. As a rule of thumb:

A few habits save you from a "kitchenette" that turns out to be a kettle:

• Search both words. Filter for "kitchen" and "kitchenette" separately, since sites use them loosely.

• Read the suite page, not the hotel page. Kitchens usually vary room by room.

• Ask about the cooktop. A microwave is not a stove.

• Plan one grocery run. Grocery stores are a short drive from most of Palm Springs, so shop on the way in.
